I'm so ready for Fall weather, and She's a Doll by Barbara Truelove was the perfect creepy novel to kick off my "reading under the covers" season! Twenty-year-old Lucy is unexpectedly murdered by her best friend's brother. Trapped inside and antique dolls, she plots to take revenge against her killer.

Truelove takes this storyline idea from good to great by crafting endearing, quirky characters whose friendships and love are tested. With humorous dialogues and a totally unique way of envisioning Lucy's doll body and supernatural powers, these unexpected layers made me devour the book, eager to see how it would all end.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone desiring an offbeat, quick read of love and friendship with a little horror mixed in.
