I don't mind Winter. Yet, around this time, when I see others in warmer parts of the country posting new plant growth poking through the soil, farmers market hauls (even if they're still coming from an indoor venue), and emerging dogwood blossoms, I long for my own signs of Spring! When I'm traveling, I actively seek out farmers markets as a fun way to live like a local n lieu of tourist destinations.
This photo is from the Eau Claire, Wisconsin downtown farmers market, which had an impressive array of vegetables, flowers, canned goods, meats and cheeses. Someone could easily compete their weekly shopping here! And, despite its much smaller size, it almost rivaled the Minneapolis farmers market, which is pretty massive (and a century old). There were also craft vendors and musicians in the area outside the covered market area. And, the markets position along the river allowed for a stroll afterwards.
Definitely consider looking up when the local markets are happening on your next trip (anywhere)!
