pasadena rose bowl flea market

On Sunday, I headed over to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena for the flea Market. The flea market is the second Sunday of every month and luckily happened to be the weekend I was in California. It boasts 2,500 vendors and 15,000-20,000 buyers every month. General admission is at 9 am for $8 (children under 12 free with an adult). There are early admissions as well starting at 5 am for $20 and 7 am for $15. Parking is free.

I enjoyed looking around, but found most of it to be clothing. I like vintage clothing, but working for a clothing designer it is one thing I do not need more of!!

I ended up spending most of my time at a booth offering vintage paper goods, mostly postcards. I rifled for hours through the vendors boxes of French, Italian, German, and Spanish postcards (The vendor offered me a chair numerous times because I was there so long!). First of all, I had never seen this many non-American postcards. Secondly, I had never seen so many postcards that had never been written on and sent. I ended up taking 125 home with me that I plan on using as actual stationary and sending through the mail.

Soon, I will place some up in my shop as well for sale so I can share the find with others!

  1. I can't wait to go to that flea market. I plan on going in June, when I go to the make-up show: http://www.imatsshow.com/london/london_index.php

I was told there is a great vintage furniture section at the flea market. Did you see it?

  2. Ooohhh...the makeup show looks like fun! You know what? There probably was a lot of vintage furniture there, but I really didn't make it that far. I stopped at the booth with the postcards and only walked a few more rows that that. I heard there were craft vendors around one part of the bowl, but I didn't make it there either :( I think I should've done a walk through before I stopped anywhere. That probably would've been the best idea. Guess I'll have to go back...

  3. Ha ha! I am the same way, once I'm drawn to something I'm stuck.
It's good to know that there is more than just cheap clothes. Thanks. I will check it out.
